Key Exploration Well
Teikoku Oil (Suriname) Co. Ltd. – Block 31, Aitkanti 1. On 4 December 2011, it was reported that the Atwood Beacon jack-up had concluded operations on the Aitkanti 1 NFW well for Teikoku and was waiting-on-weather to mobilize to the Jaguar 1 location for Repsol, offshore Guyana. The well reached a td of 5,483m in 57m water depth. Teikoku believes the purpose of the well was accomplished and the evaluation is ongoing ‘based on the encouraging and valiant results’. Teikoku plan to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the geological findings in 2012, the results from which will dictate the future exploration plan. The well was spudded 14 April 2011 and took about 230 days to drill; longer than planned due to technical challenges. The total costs have reached about US$100 million which are fully covered by Teikoku. Teikoku Oil (Suriname), operator with 100% interest, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Inpex Corporation.
